Hi everyone,

Got my new ipad several weeks ago. Love it. Still trying to figure out all the ins and outs.

One weird thing is that the youtube icon that came with the iPad is now gone. Not only is it gone from the first screen, but also gone from Settings-->General-->Restrictions. I don't remember when that happened. But I am sure it was there Sep. 16th., because I follow a show there and watch it every Saturday. I can get to youtube from Safari, but it's just not as convenient.

I vaguely remember there might be an OS update, but not 100% sure.

It won't play the Adobe flash videos, that is a lot of videos. I am so angry with apple, I trusted them and upgraded to IOS 6 with out checking it first. I hesitated so long to upgrade to IOS 5 and I finally did a couple month ago now this.i love YouTube and now it is gone. Maybe it told you an upgrade was available and you hit it, that is almost what I did. I caught it and went back and upgraded. You tube was an app that would not disappear with out the upgrade. Good luck, I am thinking of forgetting Apple, I used to like it.

The native YouTube app disappeared upon upgrade to iOS 6 on September 19th. You must have upgraded to ios 6 because the old youtube app is still there on devices running iOS 5.1.1.There is a YouTube app in the App Store that can be downloaded for free. It's an iPhone app, but will work on iPads.

There is a new app named Jasmine which is getting very good reviews for a YouTube replacement. App Advice Daily ran a story about it today.
It explains all the cool features included in the app.

Downloaded and am watching my show on it. Very nice, it continues to run in the background as I am typing here. Thanks for the info.

You've got to be kidding about using the iPhone version on the iPad! The screen is only the size of the iPhone. 2Xing it fills the screen but with crap resolution. And, at least for me, it won't rotate to landscape! No good!

If I had known this was the case, I wouldn't have upgraded. I have a lot of vids uploaded there, and subscribe to several shows. I plan to try a restore from my Mac, but I imagine that's only for apps, contacts, etc.

Same as Google Maps, Apple doesn't want anything to do with Google products. They are developing their own version? Gotta love that corporate greed!

Oh well, at least Jasmine seems to be working out for now.

An iPad specific app is in the works and will be available in the App Store as soon as it is available. BTW, videos will play in landscape mode when using the iPhone app on the iPad, do you have the rotation feature unlocked?

Thanks, this thread helped me. Was desperately looking for Youtube icon on my iPad. It's not that I care that much but its disappearance was a mystery to be solved. Why would Apple have removed the icon with this upgrade? Any ideas?
