Google Updates iPad Gmail Interface

Google has just announced a makeover for its iPad Gmail interface, which was largely inspired by user feedback, according to the Official Google Mobile Blog. Following on from the sprucing up of the compose screen back in June, this latest update comes as a result of the top feedback request, which was to have a “stacked card†interface for selecting multiple “conversationsâ€.

Google says that in the previous version of Gmail on the iPad, performing actions on selected conversations was “awkwardâ€, involving two similar looking toolbars which some users found confusing. The new interface stacks selected conversations on the right panel to make it easier to organise, archive, or delete them, and that confusing second toolbar has been scrapped altogether.

Google also took time while working on the update to experiment with CSS3 transitions, giving mobile web applications a similar look to native applications. To check out the new Gmail for iPad interface, simply point your iPad Safari browser to gmail.com.
