Yeah, the black and white combat photo is actually British soldiers of Ww1. The soldier on the right has just been shot by a sharpshooter the moment the photo was taken. The sner had waited for the AA to fire so his comrades would not hear which direction the shot came from.

PS If you look closely you can see the dust from the impact on his lower back.
