What's new

Hello all, I'm new here.

Hi to all, I am new to this forum and also to the iPad. Actually I bought the iPad for my wife for her birthday but she is not tech saavy so I am the one that has to figure out how to use it and then show her. So, please, be patient with me. I am a PC guy and new to Apple products. Except for my iPod. I will be reading all I can to figure out how to transfer stuff from our pc's to her new toy. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Hi Ray - welcome to the forum! :)

The above sounds familiar but my spouse caught on pretty fast to her Nook Color and now knows much more than me about that device, so I just stick to my iPad2 - :D

Also, you'll find some amazing and knowledgeable lady forum members and moderators here, so we're all a team! Dave

Thanks to you all for the nice warm welcome. I think I will like hanging out here and doing a lot of reading. I have already dowloaded the user's guide and started reading it. But I didn't find the answer to what I was looking for after doing some reading. My main question right now is, is there and easy, quick way to get pics from our Picasa albums onto the iPad without having to go through iTunes? Once I get that done, my wife will be able to show off here new toy and I can take the time to really become acquainted with how it works and so on. I am pretty good with the PC stuff and Windows so it should go fairly fast. It will be a different story with my wife. She seems to have a gene within her body that renders anything electrical inoperative when she touches it. And I'm not putting her down. It just seems like if something is going to screw up it will be when she is using it. Bad luck I guess. I spend most of my retirement time fixing things around here. Oh well, what else would I be doing? Thanks again,

Ray

Hi there, and welcome to the ipad world.
There are many apps that you can use. Go to the AppStore and type in Picasa. It'll be a simple task of finding which one suits your need. Tip: 'lite' apps are free, designed to let you trial a paid app.
Enjoy! And let us know how you go!

Well, I went to the App Store and did as you suggested. I didn't find anything that specifically mentioned what I am looking for. Is this an app that will allow me to move pics from my pc/picasa directly onto my wife's iPad? That is what I want to do. I have already done some through iTunes but that is a pain. I'm hoping for something easier.

Hi Ray - I cannot comment on Picasa (no longer use the program) regarding transferring your images via that program or a related app. I also understand your displeasure in using iTunes for this purpose, so a 'wireless' option is likely your best choice.

See the quote below (part of a post I left yesterday) - as an example, Dropbox will place a program on your computer & an app on your iPad; signing up on their online website will allow you to add many photos there and then via Wi-Fi transfer the images to your iPad. iCloud would be another consideration; and other choices exist, so plenty for you to consider - good luck! Dave :)

Although image transfer can be done cabled via iTunes, plenty of 'wireless' options exist that you should explore, many already mentioned - for myself, I use PhotoSync & Dropbox; for photo organization on your iPad, a 3rd party app may be your best choice and plenty exist, so check out the App Store as already recommended; again, for myself, I'm using the native Photo app along w/ iPhoto, but also Photo-Sort & My Photos - not really pushing these but showing that plenty of choices are available and a combination should suit your purposes - good luck!

Thanks to you all for your help,. I will check out the suggested programs. I have Dropbox on my PC but not on the iPad yet. I'm trying not to clutter up my wife's toy yet. I will try the Dropbox though. Also, when I first tried to find something at the AppStore I was doing it through my pc but last night I logged on through the iPad and found many other programs listed so I am sorting through them to see if I can find something that will work. Also, I have a couple of friends that have had iPads since their first announcement. I will try them also to see if they can help me out. Thanks again to everybody. This really is a friendly place.
