Hello Ipad Forum members

My wife is the primary Ipad user in my household, but I am generally the computer fixer and fixer-upper. Therefore, I likely will be using this forum more often to figure out the workings of her Ipad. So, thanks in advance to everyone on here.

Currently I am trying to find out whether or not one can load photos and/or videos from a PC to an Ipad. I already have an Ipod primarily set up for music with Itunes on my PC, but really don't want to sync it to the Ipad. I assume I need to ask for this information somewhere on the forum.

Hi there and welcome.

There is lots of good advice and info on here plus plenty of members all too willing to help with any problems.

Remember, search is your friend. If you can't find the answer you need and you post a question then give as much info as you can to help members help you i.e. iPad 1 or 2, etc. and iOS version and name of app if the problem is with a specific app........and please don't forget to read the forum rules http://www.ipadforums.net/forum-rules-help-info/2119-forum-rules-everybody-please-read.html

These are the hacking section rules for all you jail breakers (and would be jail breakers) http://www.ipadforums.net/ipad-hacking/2892-hacking-section-rules-please-read.html

We also have an app for this forum. The link to download the app is: Discussion Forum for iPad Users for iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad on the iTunes App Store and a great tutorial/guide for using the IPF App here http://www.ipadforums.net/new-membe...sistance/107524-ipad-forums-app-tutorial.html

You can download the manual for your iPad here http://help.apple.com/ipad/6/ and here http://support.apple.com/manuals/ and in iBooks search for "iPad user guide for" and you will find free comprehensive manuals for iOS 4, 5, 6, etc.

If you have other Apple products or are interested in other Apple kit then why not join our sister forum too at http://www.appleforums.net/ and for iPhone users, come and join in the discussion over at http://www.iphoneforums.net

If you don't want to sync your photos from PC to iPad (and that's not such a bad way to do it), another method is to purchase an Apple Camera Connection Kit and transfer the photos to your iPad if you still have those photos on your camera SD card. Even if you don't, you can always Copy/Paste them from PC to an SD card and then get them onto your iPad with the CCK.

Thank you from down under. This is exactly what I was hoping for. It's a perfect way to add pictures and videos without going thru the sync process. Thanks again.

Hi Buddy in Texas

Welcome to the forum. Andrew has given you the answer I would have given. I use the SD card connector kit. It's very quick and easy to SE. You will also get a USB cable connector along with the SD Card connector. The USB Connector is as easy to use.

Enjoy. I hope we can see some of your photos / hear how you get on with the kit.

No worries! You may be interested in a free app I use called PSExpress to very easily edit/manipulate the photos you get onto your iPad that way. It's quite a nice derivation of the powerful Adobe Photoshop software made simple and easy to use on the iPad. I like how you can bring up a pic from the Camera Roll, manipulate (hate that word) the photo and by simply Saving, plonk it back onto the Camera Roll for viewing and sharing.
Here's the link to the Store

And blast my lack of social graces; A warm welcome to our forum Texas buddy:)

Without wishing to throw a compete spanner in the works, there is this http://www.ipadforums.net/portable-wifi-drives/109949-wi-reader-dw09-adapter-ipad-iphone-ipod.html

Why would I suggest this, well, no matter what design changes are made to the connecters this will work with all flavours of iDevice as it's connected by wifi.

Yes Gabriel1 also points to something I had overlooked and is definitely worth looking into. WiFi interface with photography is the coming thing now IMO with continually upgraded technology, which can only make our photography easier and enjoyable with use of the iPad.
Another thing I have become interested in lately is the concept of the Eye-Fi card which is an SD card with WiFi incorporated in it. Here's a link for some more info on that.

I would be interested in any comment/feedback if anyone has used either a portable WiFi drive or a WiFi SD card.
