Help JB...iPad1 running 4.3.3_8J2

So I may be an idiot, but on my stock iPad1, under "about", it says my iPad is on 4.3.3 (8J2). I've tried using Snowbreeze 2.7 with iPad1,1_4.3.3_8J3_Restore.ipsw, and get a firmware not compatible error during the "shift+Restore" part. I've tried using Redsn0w rc16 and rc18, and it froze up during the limera1n exploit. I've tried both Redsn0w and Snowbreeze MANY times each. I'm on a Win7 box, tried it in XPSP2 compatibility, without XPSP2 compatibility. Tried setting the affinity, without setting affinity. I've tried the same processes above over and over on my WinXP box, with the same problems and the same compatibility issues.

I would have to think that the problem lies within this 8J2 vs 8J3 difference, When I do a standard iTunes restore, 4.3.3 8J2 is what it gives me. Every link i have found on the internet for iPad1 is for 4.3.3 8J3. I have noticed that the os for the iPad2 is 4.3.3 8J2. Did iTunes put the iPad2 OS on mu iPad1?

Please help.

iTunes wouldn't put the wrong os on there. In snow breeze and redsnow, the software you select, is it the same one iTunes used to update the iPad? So did you select the software in user/appdata/roaming/apple computer/iTunes/iPad software updates? Or did you download the software from the Internet?

The firmware that is in the iPad right now was put on there through iTunes, and is the official firmware from apple, by just clicking restore...not through a shift+restore. Like I said though, on the about screen on the iPad, the version does say 4.3.3 (8J2), which has me really confused..The firmware I tried using was linked to this forum. In none of the tutorials did is say to use the firmware under user/appdata/roaming/apple computer/iTunes/iPad software updates. All tutorials, even the one on this forum just say to download 4.3.3 on "this link".

OK...so now I'm really going to sound like a rookie, but where do I find the path that you referred to?

select the software in user/appdata/roaming/apple computer/iTunes/iPad software updates

The firmware designation for the 4.3.3 download for iPad1 is 8J3. All other devices are 8J2.

I've never heard of any iPad1 having a 8J2 version installed, however for the avoidance of doubt it is not possible for iTunes to have installed the iPad2 firmware on your device. It simply would not install or boot. It's not a case that it would be buggy. It simply could not run. Entirely the wrong hardware.

I appreciate you say that you tried the compatibility settings as well as affinity etc., however the problems you mentioned at the start sound like exactly those issues. If iTunes would not allow you to restore the sn0wbreeze firmware it means the iReb tool did not put your device into pwnd DFU mode as it was supposed to. This only happens when the app isn't running with the right compatibility or admin privileges in my experience. You should not have to do anything special on Windows XP. I would suggest you try it again a few times. Does sn0wbreeze tell you it was successful in putting the device into pwnd DFU mode?

OK Needz, but then I need to call you on the other glaring problem.

Model Number MC769LL

This is an iPad2 Model number. It has NEVER been an iPad1, and you CANNOT Jailbreak an iPad2.

If you want to check, you can buy it at Amazon - [ame]http://www.amazon.com/Apple-MC769LL-Tablet-Black-NEWEST/dp/B0013FRNKG[/ame]

I actually have an Ipad one, purchased from the Apple Store two weeks ago, which has the exact same model number. Unless Apple is selling Ipad2 in an Ipad1 box and body, I am pretty sure I didn't get an Ipad 2.

I am also experiencing the same problem with JB.
