Hey, I hope I can learn a lot on here. I am sure there is an abundance of knowledge!

I have been reading some discussions, but haven't quite found what I'm looking for. Wondering if someone could shed some light on updating an iPad with 3.2.2 operating system?
I have been all over the Internet this morning and can't get it to work.

Thanks soo much!

Hi there and welcome.

Why do you want to update with such an old version of iOS or are you trying to update to iOS 5.1?

There is lots of good advice and info on here plus plenty of members all too willing to help with any problems.

Remember, search is your friend. If you can't find the answer you need and you post a question then give as much info as you can to help members help you i.e. iPad 1 or 2, iOS version and name of app if the problem is with a specific app........and please don't forget to read the rules http://www.ipadforums.net/forum-rules-help-info/2119-forum-rules-everybody-please-read.html

These are the hacking section rules for all you jail breakers (and would be jail breakers) http://www.ipadforums.net/ipad-hacking/2892-hacking-section-rules-please-read.html

We also have an app for this forum. The link to download the app is: Discussion Forum for iPad Users for iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad on the iTunes App Store

You can download the manual for your iPad here http://support.apple.com/manuals/ and in iBooks search for "iPad user guide for" and you will find free comprehensive manuals for both iOS 4 and 5.

If you have other Apple products or are interested in other Apple kit then why not join our sister forum too at http://www.appleforums.net/

Hi! Yes I want to update to 5.1, but I can't seem to get it to work. My laptop recently died so I just have this iPad.
I tried to use iTunes to update but it won't cooperate either. Who / where should in look for advice?

Thank you.

You will need to connect to a computer that has the very latest version of iTunes on it. There is no other way that I am aware of.

Gabriel1 is correct. While possible to perform updates wirelessly doing so is not possible without version 5.1.

You will need to connect the iPad to a machine running iTunes. Preferably a machine running the current version of iTunes although a down version copy should still alert you that an upgrade for the iPad is available,

Once you connect the process is straight forward. It will require you to perform a backup then it will perform the install.

Another consideration but not requirement is to verify all installed apps are at current levels as provided by the associated developer and provided through the Apple Apps store.

Time required to perform the upgrade varies depending on number of apps installed and amount of user data saved/restored as part of the process.
