What's new

Hi everyone

Another nice new member here!
I am a university student in the UK and am looking to make my iPad2 as productive as possible.
I'm afraid to say I ran into problems immediately :(
Having read reviews for Office2 HD, I purchased and installed it.
I did the same with Dropbox for both my Windows7 PC and my iPad2.
I use Microsoft Office 2010 Pro so am carefully to save documents with.doc extension and not .docx for use with
Office2 HD. The documents refuse to open in HD, all that happens is HD just crashes back to iPad desktop.
Can any of you lovely people help me out with this?
Best wishes and Happy New Year to all.
Paul

Hi and welcome to the Forum!

With regards to your question when an app behaves strangely it is best to close it completely and then relaunch it. From the home screen do the four finger swipe up or double press the home button to reveal your multi task bar. These are all the apps that you have opened at one time. Long press the app until it jiggles and a red minus sign will appear above it. Press the minus sign, this will close the app, not delete it. It's also a good idea to close all these apps, as it helps the iPad run smoothly. Let us know if this fixes the problem.

Thanks for your reply.
I did exactly as you suggested, closed the app by touching the red minus sign to close it, then tried it again.
I'm afraid I had the same result: I touched the doc to open it, the screen dimmed and the activity icon appeared, then it kicked me back to the desktop again! Most annoying. My main reason for purchasing the IPad2 was to enable me to write coursework wherever I happened to be, then sync it to my home PC for further edits, this app seemed to get a good write up.
I'd greatly appreciate any further ideas you might have to help me solve this problem.
Regards,
Paul

Yes it is annoying when this happens but is normally easy to rectify too, I'd like you to do a restart and or reset and see how this goes. Restart: Press and hold the power off button, the one at the top right. You will see a slide appear to power off, slide this and the screen will go dark and a Whirly will appear. When the Whirly disappears your iPad is now off. Press the power button again until the Apple logo appears, this will take a few seconds and your iPad will restart. You should restart your iPad occasionally also as it will keep it running well. Now see if it is operating. If not a reset is the next step.

Reset: Hold the power off button and the home button simultaneously, keep holding them in and you will see the power off slide appear and disappear, wait until you see the Apple logo appear before releasing the buttons. It will take a little longer for your iPad to start.

This should now clear the problem, let us know.
