Hi and welcome to the Forum!
Go to Settings - Safari clear History and Cookies and Data and that should do it.
The IPad Forum is a community of members from all walks of life and from all over the world coming together to share our experiences and to help each other learn about this wonderful piece of technology the Ipad. If you are using Google Search you have to open all the Tabs and physically close each one. Don't have my pad at the moment to give you a walk through, but I'm sure you can work it out.

When the Google Search is open, go to the cog in the upper right corner, thenPrivacy and switch off History. Then when you type in the Search Bar, it will give you suggestions for sites, but not your search history.
Then search for something and when the results page comes up you will see small rectangular icons in upper right corner, next to a spanner, one of these will give you the Tab history, delete these tabs individually.
