Hi ipad2 first mac product music questions

Hello I got an ipad 2 a few months ago because I was really interested in the recording/studio/music making side of the ipad. But ive been kinda dissapointed because besides that audiopaste thing which is kinda dumb there is no way to say, record a synth app into a track in a multitrack app.Maybe there is a way to do that, but i cant find it,I just hope there is at least a plan to do that cause without that kind of ability its just a toy.Any thoughts?

Have you looked at Apple's Garageband app?

But you are right, there is no way to directly record the audio out of one app to the input of another. Apps can't interact directly.

On second thought, you could use two iPads and Garageband. So if you really wanted to you could use a favorite synth app to record into a multitrack recorder. It just costs more. ;)

There are a number of interfaces and apps which can be used for recording......Gorillaz recorded an entire album on an iPad way back (in 2010 I think) so its not only possible, it's already happening. I have been assisting a friend who is a musician and previously owned a pro recording studio to set up her iPad for recording and there is so much stuff out there the problems are not so much "do the apps/interfaces exist" but sorting through them all to find what works best for you.

Synth Apps are not Plug-ins

:ipad-keyboard:What your looking at your synth apps like Animoog which has great sounds and one would love to use those say in GarageBand is like a Plug-in but those apps are not written in code to share itself inside a recording app. Apps like GarageBand, MusicStudio,Meteor Multitrack are all audio and sample players, that is they include the synth plugin and the sound recorder making them more like a real Daw recorder. Auria coming soon will offer plugins as well but again only the ones that offer with their app. So the post that suggested you use 2 iPads one as the sound source and the other to capture that performance. iPad 2 price dropped to $399 and so a used one could cost as low as $150 so not too expensive as a major synth player. Good luck.
