Hooked up Composite AV Cable to Ipad 2, vertical distortion

I have a 9 year old Sony Triniton Television, not HDMI, so I purchased the Apple Compositive AV Cable so i could hook it to my iPad 2 and watch Netflix on my television.

It was an easy hookup, no problems, but everything on my television screen is vertically distorted when I play a Netflix movie. People and landscapes are long and skinny. Is there a fix for this, or am I stuck with this distortion until the time comes that I can buy a SmartTv.
