how do I play imported MOV files from DSLR ?

OK newbie here hope someone can help out

I have an iPad with the camera connection kit, I also have a Nikon D7000, I record movies or video clips with the camera and import them into the ipad for storage, now how can i play them on the ipad ? they import fine but when I tap on the to play nothing happens, the DSLR records them in MOV format.

I have an iPad and a D7000 but I don't do videos with it ,as I have a very good Sony HD movie camera that beats the socks off of the D7000 video mode. I'm sure someone there will be able to help you.
