How do you Copy a URL from the Safari address bar?

Useful for adding links here to other articles, but I can't figure out how.

Tap the URL area once until you get to 'edit' mode when the keyboard pops up. Then tap/hold it for a couple seconds again and you get select|select all|paste pop-up.

You can then select all and copy......

Frankly, a highlight and mouse click for copying a URL is much faster than the iPad touch method, but, perhaps, that will be speeded up in the future.

Did not work!

Tap the URL area once until you get to 'edit' mode when the keyboard pops up. Then tap/hold it for a couple seconds again and you get select|select all|paste pop-up.

You can then select all and copy......
I have used the iPad "copy" as an Edit tool: Copied then pasted what I copied in another area of the mail, document, etc. that I was composing,
BUT when copying the URL from Safari and trying to paste it in an email, the URL did not paste!
But, the last copy that I had copied did???
What's up? I know I'm old, but not computer illiterate!
Please, help! Am I missing something? Please give me step by step directions....
This super frustrating and I know there is an easy solution!!!

When you say you are using the ipad edit tool, do you mean the method described in the post you quoted? The easiest way to copy a URL is to click on the box with an arrow in it icon to the left of the URL, then select 'copy', then just paste wherever you want the link to go. From here, you can also choose to forward the link directly in an email.

Yes, sir!
Used the black edit bar with options: Select, Select All, Paste. ... Didn't work.
But, when I used the box with arrow going out of the top of the box to the left of the URL, IT WORKED!
Thanks so much. How cool! But I had never checked them out... Duh!
Seek and you (well actually, I) will find. :) !

BTW, this forum seems to be a keeper; so I shall keep!
So many aren't ~ They are guessums!
