How Long Will iPod Touch Flash Memory Last?

Hi, I wanted to know a simple thing, that is as to how
long will iPod Touch's (8 GB, 1st Gen) Flash memory
last?
I tried to search in the forums, but due to technical
difficulties, the search feature was not working, so
excuse me if this was posted already before.
I heard recently, that flash memory has a limited
number of read-write cycles and so obviously it should
soon wear out, but how soon is "soon"? I am a little
worried, because my iPod Touch is nearing its first
Birthday () and so, I wanted to be assured that it will
last longer than just that much.
Please give me the details of the iPod Touch's
(storage) memory life in terms of years, and if
possible in terms of read-write cycles. Consider that I
use my iPod regularly to listen to music, and have a
good number of games and I play on it some 1-3 times
every day, at least. Also, I sync at least once every
2-3 days.

I think you are over reacting, I have flash memory going back 5 years and still working, manufacturers place these specifications to protect them selves.

As per my suggestion to you, somebody actually math calculated this… 24x7 accesses. By the time the chips fail, the device itself will be obsolete and you've grown tired of it and can't wait for an upgrade.

Considering DVD are 10 to 15 years I donot think you have a problem

Slightly off topic but optical media may not last as long as that, recently checked my optical archives and found a batch of discs unreadable.
