Did you know sliding doors were also inspired by star trek?

They had some ST:TNG cast members at the unveiling of the iPad and they were impressed to actually see one in real life in their time.

I wonder if this was actually the first inspiration of the slate tablet concept? I remember reading a while back that Motorola got their inspiration for the original flip phone from Star Trek. Sometimes those imagining the future actually end up inspiring it.
