Please have some patience. Criticising our members for not replying to you within a couple of hours is not a great way to get started! We have a global audience here, and the majority of our 250,000+ members do not jailbreak so have no idea how to answer your question, and most of our friends across the pond will still be in bed!

Furthermore, you don't bother to tell us what model iPad you have, what version of IOS you are on at the moment, and whether your are currently jailbroken or not. Details really help people answer you! We are not mind readers here ;)

That said, using our search tools, reading our stickies, and looking at the posts in this section of the forum would likely get you the answer to your question quite simply :D

I suggest you start with these two sticky threads here - http://www.ipadforums.net/ipad-hacking/89458-official-ios6-jailbreak-status-thread.html

and here - http://www.ipadforums.net/ipad-hacking/24377-jailbreaking-methods-ipad.html

They should answer your questions for you, but if you have some specific questions that have not been answered elsewhere already, feel free to ask.

Sorry if i came off as rude, that was definitely not my intention. In my thread title, it says i have the ipad 3. I am running the IOS version previous to the newest one (i downloaded ios 6.0.1 but did not install it). I have never jail broken before. I am a newbie at jail breaking

No problem.
Well, if you are on IOS 6.0 as you seem to suggest, then the first sticky I pointed you to will give you the answer, which is unfortunately, no, you cannot jailbreak at the moment. Since most of the 6.0.1 fixes are for the iPhone5, you are probably best advised to wait and see what transpires in terms of an iOS6 jailbreak as laid out in the post.

EDIT - I see you changed your post above, making my answer irrelevant ;)
