How to pair iPad with car radio

Hi - I'm a new member of the Forum and an iPhone and iPad user and I have a question about Bluetooth. My new car can connect wirelessly with phones and audio devices and my iPhone paired easily but when I try to pair my iPad as an audio device to play music the car asks for the iPad Bluetooth pin code but I cannot find a pin code anywhere in my iPad settings. Is it possible to pair my iPad with my car radio to play music and if so how? I don't put music on my phone as it doesn't have enough memory!
