I am not able to get books using ibooks, how can i fix this?

Are you saying that there are no books in your iBooks store? Or you can't purchase the books? Or that you purchase them and thy don't download?

I have books that I can see and read that I have downloaded in the past. Now I cannot download any books, free or purchase. The buy button will not highlight.

Try closing the iBook app completely and then relaunch it and see if this makes a difference.

If that doesn't do the trick try a reset of your iPad and let us know how you go,

Hold the power off button and the home button simultaneously, keep holding them in and you may see the power off slide appear and disappear, wait until you see the Apple logo appear before releasing the buttons. It will take a little longer for your iPad to start.
