I pad 1 only 16 gig need help re word

Hi I won this with work but .... Can I increase the memory ? It won't let me download adobe and so cannot read some files , also is there a free word app ?

The memory is built in. You can not increase it.

You can only download apps from the App Store, or Cydia if you jailbreak. However the iPad will read most formats, including PDF files, natively. You'll still want a good app to read the files. Many users find GoodReader the best all around app for viewing PDF. It's also the closest thing to a file manager you'll find on the iPad. Each app has it's own file space, so moving files (copying actually) takes a bit of getting used to.

There are several Office compatible apps. None of them offer the full set of Office features. Here are a couple reviews of the more popular apps.
