Icons Didn’t All Appear after downloading IOS

It looks like it’s waiting for three app updates to download, but there’s no number badge on the App Store icon.

You see this when re-downloading a backup from iCloud. The icons should return to normal provided that you are connected to WiFi.
The issue is caused by the fact that while the app data is included in an iCloud backup or the backup on your computer, the apps themselves are not included and can take a while to download. Also, if an app is no longer available from the App Store it will not be downloaded.

I don’t see any number appear on my App Store icon during downloads on iOS 18 Betas. I believe it’s been like that for a while now.

I think the numbers on the App Store App only appear when there are updates for individual Apps.

Sorry I wasn’t clear, I used to get numbers on the App Store app icon when there were updates for individual apps, but that seemed to stop after iOS17 & 18 irrespective of the number of updates available.
I’m still getting app update notifications on iOS 18 beta.
Have you checked to make sure notification settings for the App Store weren’t somehow changed?

Well I worked out why I wasn’t getting any numbers on the app icon. Sometime ago I must have decided to elect to receive automatic updates on all my devices. I’ve no idea when or why I would have done that, but changing them all back to manual again has restored the numbers.
