Icons missing

Hello
When I try to download an item it just says 'install' and when the 'download' is finished it says 'play' which it does if you click on it, but there is no icon. You can only go to the 1st page on the Ipad and do a search whereupon the icon becomes visible and you can 'play' it but you cant do anything else with it. You can't put it in a folder or move it to another page or make it visible all the time. What can I do? I don't want an Ipad full of invisible icons.

There may have been a hitch in the install process. So, try to either restart or reboot the iPad to see if the icon then appears. To do (apologies if you already know):

Restart: Hold down the power button until the power off slider appears. Slide it off. When the iPad finishes shutting down, hold down the power button again until the Apple logo appears.

If that doesn't help, try this last step...

Reset: Hold both the power and home buttons until the screen goes dark and the Apple logo then appears (the slide to unlock screen may or may not appear). Once the logo appears, release the buttons. After a time, your homescreen will appear. Please note that it may take some time for the Apple logo to appear or for your homescreen to appear (or both). This is normal. Eventually, the homescreen will appear.

Thank you Marilyn for your useful reply. I tried the 1st option and I got a load of items I'd given up for lost, so I am pleased with that. But I still haven't got the icon for 'Worfeud'. I tried your second option but the icon was still missing. I went to the Apps store to try and download it but it came up with the icon and the word 'play' underneath. This usually means the App is installed but no matter how hard I look it is not there. I want to be able to access the icon and move it to a different page, but all I can do is go to the 1st page and search. I can then run it. Why isn't the icon visible?

I honestly can't help - because there is no reason that the icon cannot be seen on the iPad. All I can suggest is to carefully look through every page and folder you have on the iPad. It's got to be there ... somewhere.

Sorry - maybe someone else reading this may have another idea.

Only thing I can suggest is this.

Go to Settings/General/Reset/Reset Home Screen Layout.

That might do it.

Thankyou very much KevinJS. At last I have got the icon back. The Apps list said it was to be updated instead of just saying play, which I did and hey presto there it was. Once again thanks.
