Back in the late 1800s-early 1900s, the Chinese immigrants living in the Monterey/Pacific Grove area would hunt Sea Otters for their fur. Thought to be extinct, in the 1930s a large community of Otters were found beneath the Bixby bridge. The Monterey Bay now has over 3,000.
