Hi Hawker - assume that you were 'vacationing' in North Carolina - a historic part of the state - annotated the map below w/ a circle on the location of your pic above - Bath was the first incorporated town in 1705, the colonial capital until New Bern, and 'hangout' for Blackbeard the pirate (in cahoots w/ the Royal Governor). Of course, further east the upper Outer Banks and Roanoke Island (first English colony established in 1585, and then 'lost'); also the Wright's Brothers Monument. Finally, after my radiology residency I owed Uncle Sam 2 years (1975-77) and was sent to Fayetteville where Ft. Bragg is located (just off the left side of the map); the four of us radiologists there did a lot of 'daylighting' to make some extra money - one of many places that we covered was 'Little Washington', which included going to Williamston (and also reading a suitcase of xrays from Belhaven) - we did our first Outer Banks tour then.
