Notre-Dame de Paris reopens this weekend after a 5-year restoration following the devastating fire of 2019 - on three trips to Paris (1980s-early '90s), I visited each time. Pics below show the magnificence of the structure - in honor of this event, I'm now listening to two Parisian composers, Léonin (fl. 1135s–1201) and Pérotin (fl. c. 1200), who were there from the start (cathedral construction started in 1163 and was nearly complete a hundred years later) - recordings at bottom - this is early medieval polyphonic organum of the ars antiqua style (acapella singing). I don’t think the stonework has been that clean since it was built.
