I like this one. Winning is good, but just taking something to deprive someone else is quite distasteful. There are good reasons why Rommel was respected even by his enemies.

In life, there sometimes are reasons to "fight" even when you don't expect to "win." In business, for instance, you sometimes throw your hat in the ring to put yourself on the radar (even if you don't think you'll "win"). Sometimes you fight so you'll have the experience of having fought, so you'll be better prepped in future -- you're priming yourself to win longer term.

With quotes, interpretation is flexible, of course.

A revealing quote at that. What you posted was preceded by his question of a subordinate; "Do you love her Chief?" A question Adama was asking himself as well.
