Integrated voice recognition on the iPad?

I have iOS5 running on both an iPad 2 and an iPhone 4S. On the iPhone, there is a handy microphone button next to the space bar that appears whenever you need to enter text. Pops you into voice recognition mode. VR may not be perfect, but it can save a lot of time. On the iPad, no such button. Yes, I can open up a VR app like Dragon, speak my text, copy it, go back to my original app and paste it. This is not a time saving way to use VR. Is there a way to enable the VR button on the iPad? If not, does anyone know if this is planned for a future OS update?
