Instead of trying to remember all the steps to a point in setting for example Passcode

Simply go to Settings and swipe down on the left side and under settings is a search option, type a few letters and up pop options. No going through the lot

Nice feature it seems. Does it search whole iPad or only settings and sub menus?

The search Johanna showed is only for Settings. To search the entire iPad swipe down in the middle of the home screen to pull up the Spotlight search. You can turn on/off what Spotlight will search in Settings > Siri & Search.
