IOS 5 Keyboard Text Shortcuts

Just noticed this under settings --> General --> Keyboard --> Add New Shortcut

You can create a shortcut for phrases that you frequently use while typing/texting. For example, if you frequently type "Have a nice day" you can set up a shortcut (HAND) and when you type HAND it will become Have a nice day in your document/text message!

Have a nice day!

Yeah, I've put in the shortcut @@ for my e-mail address (you gotta have a minimum of a two-character shortcut). Way easier than typing my extremely long e-mail addy.

Me likes! :D

I knew about this shortcut. Now I can say hell without having autocorrect changing it. But that @@ shortcut is absolutely brilliant. Thanks a lot. Will do that right now

Synchronising keyboard shortcuts

I enjoy using keyboard shortcuts on my iPad.
Is there any way of synching with my iPhone, or do I need to type all of them again?

Unfortunately, I have seen no way of synching the shortcuts across devices ... which is pretty silly if you ask me.

My otherwise excellent shortcuts do not always work on my iPad original.
Eg I have set "cld" to give me could.
Sometimes it expands to could, and sometimes not.
Could anyone please help?
Thanks in anticipation

I'm trying to use the keyboard shortcuts to autofill a password that I use daily at the University building where I attend class. Any idea why it won't recognize my shortcut to be used for a password?

Aha!
I have discovered that the problem occurs intermittently ONLY when I am editing within a sentence.
It does seem to work OK at the START of a sentence, or at the END.

Terrific idea ! I just did it and even added @@@ for my second email address ! Great tip ;-))))))
