iOS 7 - first impressions

Another problem with iOS 7 is the result of Apple trying to make the appearing of the icons after unlock more stylish. The device takes a long time to unlock, with the outer icons crawl in in slowly. So, we have to wait for some time before we any app opens. That time is enough to drive people in a hurry crazy.

It is get quite frustrating sometimes

On my iPad 3, using the Home button results in a smooth transition. The four-finger pinch starts smoothly, but the last 30% or so is a ragged jump. I wish they'd spent less time on cute animations and more on testing! This post handcrafted from 100 percent post-consumer recycled electrons.

Yup, that's exactly what I've been experiencing. I agree with more time testing. It just makes apple look lazy lol

Does any but me intensely disklike ios7?

I never understand why new release of an op system has to be totally unlike the previous version. Microsoft does the same. I am not a "power" user, but even basics make no sense to me. Why change the unlock code display, or the pictures in a number of the home screen icons?
Does everyone but mu understand the top of page icons like a box with a line extended downward or one with a line extending upward?

So much for complaints.
The iPad is now brutally slow. I there "stuff" than can be removed?
Thanks for any guidance.

I have had no problems at all. Upgraded my iPad 4 from 6 to 7. Everything works perfectly. I was a little put off at first at the change in closing apps, but I'm used to it now. My 5s came in Tuesday from AT&T and I love it. Used Blackberrys for years and then stupidly got a Nokia Lumia. Worst phone decision I ever made. Waited for my wife's upgrade came up and stole hers for the 5s. The way I have it set up, it is perfect. My iPad is the same way. I have no problem with speed at all, on any device. I've read the forums and understand some folks are having problems, or just don't like the change. But for me, I couldn't be more pleased.

I've read most of the threads with complaints (which I am sure are valid) from many users, but I also am very happy with the upgrade--I upgraded my iPad 4 and iPhone 4S with no issues (although I had to try the iPhone upgrade a couple of times, probably due to server overload on the first day).

I'm happy with the new look and new features, and even the older iPhone 4S doesn't seem to be any slower than it was. Battery life appears to be at least equal to what it used to be on both devices.

It's unfortunate that the iOS 7 experience hasn't been as successful for everyone, but just want to point out that there are also a lot of happy iOS 7 users out there.

I updated a few days ago. Battery life is decreased. I have I-pad 3 wifi only. Lost location service and therefore maps with iOS 6. With this update the I-pad thinks it is in California instead of east coast. It will not automatically set time zone. Any solutions?

Hah. I lost automatic timezone detection in 6, but regained it in 7. Go figure....

But it happens with all of my apps, be it third party or stock apps

It happens with me only for Safari. Don't know why its happening. :(

BTW, yesterdays update did improve the speed of games, I mean like completing an action which used to take a long time did take less time, BUT, one of my game apps, over 1 GB, crashes after a minute or so, which did not happen before.

iOS 7 may work a bit better on iPhone 5s, because it has a better processor.

Go to Settings: Privacy: Location Services. Turn it on. Allow everything to update, then turn it back off, if you want.

Anyone notice that the option to see a specific number of emails is now missing? How do I tell the iPad how many I want to see or how many days, weeks etc? I only see a few in some of my folders.

iOS 7 upgrade not good for me I am afraid. Regret upgrading my ipad2.

firstly, I have lost all my Page and Numbers documents.

Secondly, I am unable to use icloud - I am greyed out in settings and can't open iCloud.

Thirdly, I have lost some important apps including the BT Sport app. As I don't have my password on me at the moment I will have to wait to reload it so I am unable to watch the Spurs v Chelsea match.

There was a fourth problem which was that when I was out with a friend I tried to check our location using the blue dot on maps but I wasn't there! eve Eventually I found the solution to that from reading something on the internet. I think it involved looking at some obscure place in General on settings like restrictions that I would never have thought of myself. But it was frustrating at the time because I have come to rely on the blue dot locating where I am.

lesson: as has been pointed out so often Apple need to work harder on ensuring they make upgrades smoother for existing users. I will certainly use my ipad differently (and less actually - especially pages and numbers apps) because of this experience, have less time for the care apple puts into the technology which will impact on future buying decisions and next time I will take wise counsel and resist all the efforts to get me to upgrade quickly but wait until the last minute.
