iOS 7 - first impressions

Apple stopped signing iOS 6.1.3 on Friday and once that happened it became impossible to downgrade. I'm afraid that you're stuck on iOS 7.0.

Only as long as I own this iPad, which, the way things have been working post iOS 7, won't be long. Sad. I really liked the simplicity of Apple products. Now it just looks and feels like some cheesy MS-redo.

Just a note from your friendly neighborhood graphics designer:

For what it's worth, you'll find all mobile operating systems moving, or will be moving, to this "flat" look and feel. The reasons behind it are numerous. Flat UI elements are easier to maintain, they require less storage space, and they speed up data transfer due to smaller file sizes. Apple is actually doing everyone, including the end user, a favor by switching to this flat look. I like knowing that just running the system will take a smaller bite out of my 2GB/month data allowance.

Thanks for the quick response--I just expected the upgrade to make things better not delete half of the things I use often. I wish the information on ios 7 would have warned they would be deleting e-mail accounts, contacts and calendar entries I would never have agreed to upgrade. At this point I do not see any improvement to my ios 6 features just a whole lot of work to get back to where I was before I pushed the upgrade button. Oh so frustrated!!!!!

Well in absolute frustration I reset my ipad, reset my network connections, turned off wifi and then slowly turned wifi back on, reset my e-mail and modem password and voila everything appeared. It was a long day and a half but it now appears I have all my e-mail and contacts and calendar items. Whew at least that saved me from throwing the ipad out the window---LOL!!

I have the smallest data package and really don't use it that much, I use wifi almost exclusively, so that aspect of it doesn't matter to me. But, thanks for the heads up in regards to the industry moving in this direction. I still don't like the looks of it and I won't tomorrow. Also, I feel like iOS 7 has been very detrimental to the performance of my iPad (2), at least for the things that I use it for most of the time. I will not voluntarily upgrade my iPhone. A very big disappointment for me regarding Apple.

The new iOS is a shocker on so many levels. Performance, lag, etc. I am so incredibly disappointed with this release.

If any are experiencing issues with your iPad after the upgrade to IOS7, a reset may help with this.....it's also a recommended step after any update.

Hold the power off button and the home button simultaneously, keep holding them in and you may see the power off slide appear and disappear, wait until you see the Apple logo appear before releasing the buttons. It will take a little longer for your iPad to start.

That's great that it worked out for you Donna, in no small part due to your initiative and perseverance.:) Next time you want to throw your iPad out the window, just let me know and I'll stand below to catch it LOL.

I reinstalled iOS 7 on my iPad via iTunes and I can see that some things have changed for good! Even the battery!
Try it !! :)

I wish I had not downloaded the new i0s7. It seems I have a choice of sound or rotation, not both at the same time. How do I get my sound back? If I go into general, I can check mute or rotation. This is frustrating. I really don't like the look of the white and the thin blue cloud etc.

Try and do a hard reset ! That might help you! Hope it works.
