IOS in a PC world

Hello iOS world. I'm enjoying the iPad but having a hard time with the transition. I fear that it may not be possible to use an iPad in place of a windows based laptop. I use the laptop for work accessing Microsoft Office and viewing
Pages that contain active x controls. I'm going to try to locate fixes or ways around these issues because I much enjoy the pro's of an iPad. I look forward to learning and discovering new ways to utilize this tool.
