Ipad 2 account transfer on stock ipad

I registered my Ipad2 in my name and linked it to my Paypal account. How do I make the change to my wife and a new funding source for downloaded apps?

HI there--

I will give you my understanding of this and perhaps others will chime in as well.

In the itunes store on your ipad, you can sign out and have your wife sign in using her itunes account and password. She may be prompted to add a credit card or some form of payment in order to make purchases, if she has not done so yet. For me, I have chose not to use a credit card, but to use itune gift cards. There should be an option for payment button that you can select for this.

One thing to remember, is that having 2 itunes account will not allow you to share apps purchased between you and your wife. Also, if some of your apps remain on the ipad--any updates needed will require your itunes account password in order to complete the update.

I hope that this makes sense.

If you intend to give your wife basically a new iPad with her own account, it would probably be best to go to Settings > General > Reset, and Erase all Content and Settings. This will restore you iPad to the way you initially bought it.

If you've updated to iOS 5, you'll be able to re-initialize the iPad with nothing but an internet connection. If you are still on iOS 4 you'll need to use a computer and iTunes.

If your wife already has an Apple ID and password, use that when setting up the iPad again. If not you'll have an option to create one.

This is the cleanest way to transfer an iPad and be absolutely sure nothing you had stored on it will remain.

If you needs some stuff to stay on the iPad then SkiMonkey's method is better; but it will be up to you to delete apps, accounts, and documents you don't want on her iPad and any apps you leave on the iPad will only update if you sign back into the App Store with your Apple ID.

Yes, I thought about this being one of the OP's options. I wasn't sure what his full intentions were with his handoff of the iPad to his wife. I will certainly keep your tip in my toolbox!! :o

Just adding another option, mostly because, like you, I was not sure what the OP wanted to do. I like it when I'm not the only one guessing. I think it is called collective deniability, or something like that. :D
