iPad 2 hardware & Apple Store genius

my IPad 2 just crashed while I was trying to restore the software to manufacture default, it shows on my iTunes with code 9 error. I brought it to Apple Store, and a genius there told me my IPad has hardware problem & Apple would only offer to replace with another used IPad (for $250) but cannot fix it, reason per "genius": the IPad is not design to be opened up & fixed if it has hardware problem because it has no screws on the bottom like the IPhone (?). Anybody has the same experience?

The iPad can be opened up and repaired, but repairing an iPad 2 which can be almost 5 years old is not really viable from an economic perspective. You may want to consider upgrading to a newer iPad.
