I've read this thread over and I think that you have all the knowledge you need, to know what to do. This iPad needs genius help now, we are obviously not the specialists for this problem, apple are.
You have already realised this, so take it to Apple and let us know what happens. We may not be able to help you but we still care enough to try.
Apple should get you a new iPad if they find it's at fault, these things happen. We hope you will look back on this and wonder why you got cross.
