Upgrade the Macpro to the latest version of OS X. Update the iPad 2 to iOS 5. Get an iCloud account and set up sync on both.

That's the easiest way. Other less complete ways include using iTunes, GMail, and other third party services; though you can boost things a bit with DropBox and/or Box.com.
