iPad Apps Update Is A Pain

Hi all,

I have a quick question, i realized everytime theres an update for an app, be it bug fix or better performance...the app is actually re-downloaded in full, is there a reason for this? as some of the apps are really huge like 300mb++ and redownloading a few of them at a sametime is a pain. Any advise? Thank you in advance. =)

Yes, the reason is the iPad has no mechanism for applying patches to fix only those bits that need fixing. I suspect that is more of a resource constraint issue. It is simpler to just replace the entire App than for Apple to implement a patch mechanism into iOS.

I suspect that as we get more and more large Apps they will rethink this strategy. Mainly to save their own bandwidth. Until then the only recommendation is to accept it or stop buying large Apps or stop expecting bugs to be fixed ;)
