iPad charger

I was charging my iPad when I had to leave town for a few days. It hadn't yet charged all the way up (93%). I didn't want to leave it plugged in all of that time so I unplugged it from the wall but I left the other end plugged into the iPad. When I got home the iPad was completely discharged! Why did this happen?

I've not heard of that issue before. It doesn't sound normal to me, but maybe someone here has an answer. If not, I'd check with Apple to determine if there's an issue with your iPad (or possibly your charger).
