Researching the use of an iPad for use while traveling in order to have the ability to examine photos on larger screen and to provide back-up in case camera memory lost. Prefer size of mini but not sure if resolution good enough.

I have travelled quite a bit with my iPad 2 and have used it for photo storage and loved it. But this is the iPad 2, my daughter has the iPad 3 with Retina screen and the iPad mini and she's planning a trip overseas in June and plans to take the mini with her. The sole reason is the weight, it's just so much lighter.

IMO, iPad 3 or 4 is better than mini for this. Also, a wifi device such as the AirStash+ (which reads SD cards and works with iPad) and other similar devices are a good way to go. Camera connection kit is another low-cost option but is not as flexible. Use the forum search function to uncover more information as much as already been written about these devices.
