Ipad freezes constantly

I bought an iPad 2, 2nd generation, in 2013-2014 with the 9" screen. I keep history, temp files, etc cleared constantly and keep all iPad software up-to-date. Other than reading & writing emails & Facebook usage, I only use it for playing simple games like casino & bingo. Some games I play online while others are installed on the device. I've uninstalled all games & reinstalled with no change.

My problem is the device freezes or locks up. Sometimes it will kick me out of a game totally. The lockup occurs sometimes when I'm on Facebook or playing a game.

I'd appreciate any help.

Bob

Hi Bob,
This problem is well known on older devices such as the iPad 2. It actually cannot run the latest software. Technology moves so fast these days and newer devices are much more accommodating.
One thing you could try is restoring your iPad to factory settings via iTunes and setting it up as new.

Your problems could be resulting from the limited RAM of the iPad 2. It only has 500GB of RAM. The iPad Pro has 8 times as much at 4GB.

Hi Bob - I owned an iPad 2 from 2011 (its release date) until 2014 (replaced w/ an iPad Air 2) - as already stated, you're dealing w/ dated technology, especially regarding RAM and the needs of a more modern iOS and more demanding apps. Please provide some further information, i.e. what iOS is installed (current one is 10.3.1, which will not run on your device) - also, what is the storage capacity of the iPad and how much is available? If you do not have at least 2-3 GB free, then that may be an issue.

Finally, have you done a 'RESET', i.e. hold BOTH the ON-OFF & HOME buttons until the Apple logo appears (may take 10 sec or so), then release and allow the device to reboot - let us know if this helps and provide the information requested. Dave :)

Facebook is a resource heavy app, so not surprised that it would crash now and then. Anecdotally , if you try a total restore of the iPad via iTunes , you may find it slightly more stable.
