iPad Microphone?

My friend has a mini and wife has iPad2. Both have a microphone for dictating emails, for instance. He looked at mine and couldn't find the icon. We are both running 6.1

Help???

Hopefully, I described this correctly to make sense. He says his does a bang up job and only has to edit a few words in his notes or dictated emails.

Ipad 2 doesn't have dictation.

You can try downloading Dragon Dictation from the app store. Mixed reviews but most appear favorable.

Looks like it requires either active wifi or 3G to function.
