iPad -- On/Off

I've been using my iPad for 6 months (luv it) but today it would not turn on--charged it--nothing.

Any ideas?

Hold the 'Power' and the 'Home' key down for about 30 seconds and it will reset the iPad - don't panic, no apps or user files will be lost!! You'll see the white Apple logo appear when the reset/reboot starts - and it takes a while, so be patient and ****don't panic****

If the problem persists please get back in touch

Not really -- it's just 'one of those things'. The iPad may be immune to virus infection, but it's not immune to bugs in the apps or iOS so, occasionally, like any computer, it crashes or hangs. Nothing to get too worked up about.

My personal experience is certainly that the iPad is more reliable in this respect than my PC - a lot more reliable, in fact.

Most Forum members recommend turning off your iPad about once a week - this seems to help 'clean up' the system and appears (from entirely unreliable and circumstantial evidence) to minimise system crashes of this sort. So, once in a while, I turn my iPad off rather than simply put it to sleep, by pressing *and holding* the Power button (just the Power button this time) until a rotating white 'bezel' appears. Once that bezel has disappeared (it takes a few seconds as the iPad powers down completely) the iPad is then completely 'off'. To turn it 'on' press and hold the Power key until the white Apple logo appears. It takes about ten seconds to power up and, during this time, the screen orientation control is disabled so the Apple logo may be facing the 'wrong' way. Just before power up is complete, the iPad plays a little 'jingle' and then it's back to the usual Home screen.

Have fun and enjoy your iPad
