Hey, all.

We have an iPad 4 at home, with iTunes 11.

We can easily create playlists in iTunes and transfer it to the iPad, but the other way around seems impossible. We have many playlists we made on the iPad and we wish to transfer to iTunes, but when we connect it to the computer (which runs Windows 8) and iTunes recognizes the device, in the device menu (which is revealed by clicking the arrow) we only see the playlists made in iTunes on the iPad, and none of the ones on it that we made on the iPad itself.

How do we get to the playlists on the iPad? :(

Thanks.

Are you manually managing or auto-syncing? If you manually manage, any playlists you make on your ipad won't be transferred to your iTunes library (you can see them on the ipad when connected to iTunes, but they remain on the ipad and don't copy over to iTunes).

Hey, thanks for answering!

So, let me get this straight - if I set iTunes to auto-sync on connecting a device, the playlists will transfer from the iPad to iTunes? Because indeed, I am manually syncing the iPad so it doesn't automatically sync with iTunes the second I connect it.

Yes, it should work as long as you created the playlists on the iPad and not on iTunes.

All right - thanks for the assist, I'll try this later tomorrow.
