Hi John - welcome to the forum! :)

Concerning your question, I'm assuming that the iPad had GPS activated and 'Location Services' on for the Camera - thus, location was present in the photo's metadata - my iPad does not have GPS, so others w/ more experience may want to add a comment or two. Dave

Location services works, sort of, even without GPS. My photos' EXIF data shows the last wifi hotspot Apple could identify. Obviously, on a road trip with long distances between wifi access points, many photos will be mistagged. But some will be in the general area.

I'm thinking you're on the right track here.....although it would need to be turned on in iCloud settings also.

This is interesting. I was in Sam's the other day and took some shots of some products on my 4S. Photostream is on. The images show up on my PC with GPS data included. I was inside Sam's though, so I'm surprised the GPS data was included. Another reason to get the GPS model of the iPad, though.

BTW, I looked at a screen shoot I did...it gave a PNG file with no GPS data.
