ipad wifi connect hdd using Air Extreme?

I'am going for a holiday and want to take with me my ipad and portable Samsung harddisk.
There are movies on the harddisk. Ik want to watch them on the ipad.
Can I use a wireless router to do so?
Can I use a Air extreme for this?
Is there a cheaper way, without jailbreaking?

If your hdd is a normal usb hdd, then no you won't be able to watch movies stored on it. You would need something like the goflex satellite wi-fi hdd or an Airstash wi-fi flash drive.

I bought a CloudFTP. This is what I meant.
