IPAD2....connection issues

I've got a BT Home HUB 1....my IPAD 2 shows the network but there is a padlock showing. Then it drops to Openzone..I really want to connect to the HUB and when I go to settings I see Client ID at the bottom. Does this mean the HUB password..the 11 characters at the back of the HUB ( the very top one ). I'm really stuck and although I'm blessed with patience I would really like to get it set up. Any advice and help would be so gratefully received. Read through the forums and I've learned so many things I can do with it..but can't get connected. It says I could try ITunes..but still there is 'Try Again' issues.
