iPad3 as a "Pix Viewer" ?

Hello,

I installed iTunes on my Windows PC.
From it, I was able to download a bunch of pictures from the PC to my iPad3.

I assume the pictures are now "permanently" in iPad's memory. True ?

Question:

Is there any way to use the iPad as a viewer?

In other words, have the ipad look at the pictures in my Windows PC without actually having to download them to permanent iPad memory to just view them ?

I have a zillion pix on my PC that I would like to show off on the iPad, but sure don't really want to have to actually download and store them (all) to see them.
Is this possible ?

You can set up home sharing on your PC and with your iPad. Then you can share music, movies, and photos.
