turns out the ipod radio remote is compatible with ipad! when you stick it in, ipad says it isnt compatible. but if you stick it in about halfway, the wiggle it a bit, then ipad will say dock connection in the music app. it might take a couple of tries but you can eventually get it to work. then you can use the remote to control ipad! but of course the radio part wont work.
