Jsh1120 - great advice, but I'd probably check first to make sure that my hotel had Wi-Fi, preferably free!
Another option is the carry a small router that can connect to a cabled ethernet connection and provide 'protected' Wi-Fi access to a number of compatible devices - I own the Zuni router shown below (
INFO HERE) - now I've only used this once (worked fine) because most of the places that I've stayed offer Wi-Fi in the rooms - this is likely a fading necessity? But I guess that if you needed to pay for a wired ethernet connection and had 'mates' in adjacent rooms, then one of these devices might provide multiple wireless connections on one charge (i.e. $ fee)?
Now the one place that I did use this router was in a hotel w/ just a wired paid ($10/day) option in the room - my wife & I were able to connect our iPad, VISTA computer, iPod, and Nook via Wi-Fi, so just another consideration -
