iTunes won't recognize my iPhone 4

When I use the usb port on my docking station, works fine...but when I use the usb on my laptop, itunes doesn't recognize my iphone.
I've uninstalled/reinstalled the apple mobile device driver. The iphone is recognized by my machine.
