Jailbroken Ipad not backing up anymore

Hi, this is my first post here. I have a jailbroken Ipad, I jailbroke it using Spirit a few months ago. I have not had any problems up until now, everytime I would plug my Ipad into my Imac, it would first do the backup and then it would sync. Just starting the other day I noticed it has been skipping the backing up step and just syncing. I found an article on the apple support site that says that you should be able to right click on your Ipads name in the itunes menu and there should be an option that says "back up or restore from back up", but it only gives me the option to restore from backuo. I want to keep up to date back ups just incase something happens. So does anyone know if there is a setting somewhere that might have gotten accidentally changed, or is there another way to manually create a backup with itunes. Thanks for any help you can give.
